Spring 2025 Fashion Tips with Jen Walker
by Jen Walker
25th March 2025Jen Walker, colourful fashion enthusiast and dressmaking influencer, takes a stroll around some of her favourite shops at the Grand Arcade, to pick out some of her Spring fashion highlights.

Meet Jen Walker
Hi, I’m Jen, colourful fashion enthusiast and dressmaking influencer. You will usually find me over on my Instagram putting together joyful outfits (both RTW and handmade), using bright, colourful fashion as a tool for boosting mood!
I’m local to Cambridge and love nothing more than a gander around the Grand Arcade, as it holds some of my absolute favourite brands.
And with Spring emerging, and the sun and blue skies making more of an appearance, I am more than ready to pull out some staples for slightly warmer weather. I am also a mum of two boys, so my outfits often (not always!) tend to lean into being practical and comfortable – as I have to bend down a lot, and deal with unacceptably high quantities of mud and dirt!
That said – I glory in floaty, flouncy dresses whenever an opportunity presents itself. I love to play with these more dressy outfits for drinks and dinner with friends – or even a rare date night. I prioritise wearing natural fibres, for comfort and breathability, and importantly for sustainability. And from my background in dressmaking, I really appreciate seeing high quality finishes to garments – I can’t explain how excited I get when I see a beautiful French seam!

Oliver Bonas Top Picks
My first pit-stop is Oliver Bonas. My absolute go-to for beautiful fashion – this shop really hits the mark on my colourful clothing vibe!
I quickly found my arms overflowing with garments to try-on. You can really style an entire outfit in this shop – from clothing to footwear, bags and accessories.
I found it so difficult to narrow down my selection to just one outfit – but in the end I was drawn to this floaty V-neck midi dress with a colourful checked design. I loved the longer sleeves on this too – until it’s summer, I’m not ready to get my arms out! This dress had a loose fit, with ease around the bust and waist, which made it so comfortable and easy to wear. I couldn’t resist pairing this with an extra splash of colour in the metallic pale blue Mary Jane shoes.

Levi's and Dr. Martens Top Picks
Then finally we moved onto Levi’s – this brand has been a solid staple in my wardrobe for years. I have always held a soft spot for Levi’s as my parents have both loved this brand through the decades. Their staff are always so helpful, as if you’re like me, you like to try on A LOT of different sizes, lengths and styles of jeans!
This time though, I wanted to try something different than a pair of jeans, as Levi’s have so many other stylish options. I am a total sucker for dungarees, I love that they are so practical for everyday life, but also a real statement garment. So I couldn’t resist these!
I added a soft cotton t-shirt, with pink and maroon stripes. This is an outfit I can see getting plenty of wear – ultimate comfort and points for practicality. Paired with a gorgeous pair of the new Dr. Martens ‘Buzz’ shoes in pink and some frilly socks, to add a little bit of fun!

Scamp & Dude Top Picks
Next stop was one of my favourite small brands – Scamp & Dude. I’ve been a huge fan of theirs for years, their lightning bolt ‘button’ on garments first caught my eye for my boys’ clothes when they were small! Definitely a brand with heart, and their clothes just give an all-round feel good factor. Their patterns, bright colours and beautiful designs can’t fail to bring joy to your wardrobe!
I picked up one of their vivid pink cardigans to pair with a fun leopard print skirt. And I felt like this was really an outfit which could be dressed up or down, depending on the footwear and accessories. And I am a passionate cardigan lover, as layering is so key to staying comfortable in Spring as we ride the waves of temperature change!
I found this such a flattering outfit, which really put a stride in my step as I shimmied and twirled round in the changing rooms! Dancing is always a sure-fire sign that your clothes are making you feel happy.
