After working as a radio broadcaster and television presenter at BBC Radio Cambridgeshire and BBC Look East for over twenty years, Jeremy Sallis is an events host, presenter and media trainer. He has been a regular face and voice at some of the biggest public events in Cambridge over the last two decades including the Grand Arcade Xmas Lights Switch-On.
Moonlight Mandolin Orchestra
The Moonlight Mandolin Orchestra is a Cambridge-based, amateur group for plucked string instruments, including mandolins, mandolas, guitars and bass. It started life in around 2002 as a small group and grew steadily to its current membership of around 20, led by Musical Director, Hugh Boyde and meeting fortnightly to rehearse in Histon. Performing publicly four times a year, they cover a broad repertoire ranging from folk tunes, piano rags and pop songs to baroque, classical and contemporary orchestral compositions. The orchestra released its first CD, ‘Moonbeams’, in 2023.
Vocal Remix
Vocal Remix is a contemporary choir with an imaginative twist. Specialising in up to date mashups and unique harmonies. Starting in 2017, the choir has grown to over 100 members and continues to thrive in the community. They have raised thousands of pounds for local charities. Sessions are upbeat, fun and light hearted. Everyone is welcome.
Stagecoach Performing Arts
Stagecoach Cambridge & Cambourne provide quality part-time training in the performing arts for children aged 4-18yrs. Our aim is to nurture and develop young potential through singing, acting and dance classes in Cambridge & Cambourne, stretching young imaginations and helping to develop confidence, physical awareness, communication and articulation – as well as being educational and fun. Open Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays after school and at weekends with workshops during the school holidays.
Target Dance
Target Dance Company was established in 2022 to bridge the gap to produce all rounded versatile performers who can excel across the board in the Performing Arts. Run by Directors Nikki Trow and Katy Graham-Clare who have a wealth of experience in teaching, directing and choreographing shows in the industry and mainstream TV. We teach children from ages 3-18 years of age at an industry standard whilst maintaining a fun and inclusive environment, ALL are welcome. The 29th Funktion
The 29th Funktion are a funky psychedelic soft rock, blues/soul band originally based in Cambridgeshire. made up of up of crazy Lulu on vocals, the wonderful Tommy on the guitar, fabulous Sam Fisher on the drums and Mr Alex TickinBoy on the Bass. They regularly gig in pubs and venues around Cambridge, St Ives and beyond, and love performing a varied set of covers and their own passion mad unique original music. They are recognized for their extremely high energy and captivating stage presence. They are currently in the process of recording and writing new music as we speak. Definitely one to watch out for.
St Mary's School
We are looking foward to having The Bella Voce Choir from St Mary’s Junior School join us for the Celebrations. St Mary’s School, Cambridge is a day and boarding school for girls from Pre-school through to A-level, located in the heart of Cambridge. The music department is very strong across the whole school and the Junior School specifically offers 6 different choirs, and many instrumental ensembles, who are currently all getting ready for their annual Carol Service held at OLEM in a few weeks. The choir we have performing for us is their auditioned Year 5 and 6 choir called Bella Voce. These girls rehearse together weekly and are very excited to perform for you and help spread some Christmas cheer.
Sing! Choirs
Sing! Choirs are delighted to be singing for you at the Grand Arcade Christmas Celebration! They are choirs from Ely and Cambridge, with no auditions and no need to read music, so everyone is welcome to come and join them! They sing a great selection of pop, rock and songs from the shows, as well as Christmas songs of course, as well as raising lots of money for charity too!
